MOTION AWARNESS/listening # slow motion body path
Breath
: from an internal continuum to a strong state of presence
In
the frame of my residency at CLOUD for my work in progress Echoing
Perception Research 1 #2 / Renaissance # reconnection
, I propose you to join me for a morning practice which I would like
us to consider like a malleable ritual.
The
practice is connected to my research about silence and echo. I am
focusing on the slow motion as the main physical envolvement.
I'll
guide you with the voice, like going through a meditative path.
In
first, through the observation of the breath we'll establish a
deep/holistic connection with the body, in order to then explore the
breath as the source to lead the body's motion. Gradually we'll reach
an engaged physicality with a complete awareness into the slow
motion.
The
floor will be a partner : a tool in order to enter, awake and develop
the body's intelligency; its organisation, strength, flexibility,
accuracy and honesty.
The
first part of the ritual is inspired by elements of : tibetan yoga of
Naropa, basic posture of tao and my own experimental/empiric body
research with chanelling energy.
The
second part is leaded like a laboratory : through different kind of
experiments, we'll research on possibilities and identify strategies
to travel in extrem slow motion with the minimum of muscular effort.
We'll research on using energy to balance the conitnuum of slow
motion.
BODY
MOTION AWARENESS/ listening is a playground for each
participant to stimulate his/her own movement and creativity while
deepening the understanding of its construction, its structural
organisation and its 'natural technic' or organicity.
BODY
MOTION AWARENESS/ listening gives you tools to reach a high
state of consciousness within the process of creating movement.
Through specific frames of experiment, each participant get more and
more accurate with his/her senses, his/her levels of self awareness,
and his/her way of listening.
BODY
My
Body, dancing, is
formed and sustained imaginatively. I reconfigure the
three-dimensional body into an immeasurable fifty-three trillion
cells perceived perceiving, all of them, at once. Impossibly whole
and ridiculous to presume, I remain, in attendance to the feedback.

MOTION
Motion,
as Nikolais distinguished it from movement, had to do with the
dancer's sensory skills. Granted, there had to be movement in order
to experience motion because motion was an inherent part of
movement. Simply put, motion was sensing the doing. Sensing in the
case of dance included sensing the shape, time and space involved,
along with the interior sensibilities of grain and gravity — the
whole raft of principles of physics and the physical composite of
the human body. All of this factors defined motion.

AWARENESS
It
is the self, which is consciousness itself which is observing this
thing, this self I am, I return to the self.

Now
is the past, present, and future acknowledged as it unfolds each
moment through each performer. Here is the awareness of that
performer as he/she changes in relationship to the physical space,
the other performers, and the audience.
